Imaginary Small Biz<\/h3>\n

I did some marketing work for a real company but a flyer mailer was one piece that got shelved. So I decided it would be fun to make up a pretend roofing company, repurpose the flyer for it, & create more branding assets too.<\/p>\n

Branding & Marketing<\/h3>\n

Created Logo; Files: Black & white,\u00a0color, and annotated versions<\/h4>\n

On the Logo, I made a graphic with lines & arrows reflecting off a house. They’re supposed to represent sun rays and precipitation bouncing off a protective roof.<\/p>\n

Company\u00a0Naming: I made it “A to Z Roofing” thinking it would be clever if the company was also in Arizona (A-to-Z? AZ Roofing? AZ is abbreviation for Arizona? Okay, maybe not clever<\/em>, per se… moving on…), and I’m also thinking in SEO terms of how A-names come first in directories. I realize Yellow Pages are all but dead, but there are still alphabetized business directories deployed in the Internet age.<\/p>\n

Created Mailer; Files: 8.5″ x 5.5″ postcard, front & back sides.<\/h4>\n

On the mailer, I tried to make the call to action visually pop and also showcase Before\/After improvements of both commercial and residential work via photos. And to soothe any anxiety in the lead’s soul about contacting a contractor; I employed phrasing about trust, competence, and general Golden Rule-ing.<\/p>\n

It’s a pretty busy mailer, and I usually like a Less Is More<\/em> approach to print marketing. But in my opinion, mailers need to grab the recipient’s attention before they get immediately tossed in the trash. A little visual audacity and brashness can be effective in getting at least a once-over, especially since so many home and business owners would prioritize elective dental surgery\u00a0over\u00a0spending thousands of dollars on building maintenance. The A-side has a large scrawled qualifier question that asks the lead if they need roof work.
