      You updated BIOS & still couldn’t get an m.2 drive to boot windows 7?

    I have problem when i boot my system after installing windos 7 OS in ssd. The os got installed but after the reboot the system not automatically boot from ssd its going to hdd, please help i changed my ssd to first boot opation, and this is happening only in UEFI opation.

      Hi Ramprasath,

      I think the issue is that you’re enabling UEFI operation in the BIOS, should be “Legacy First” or something. There are other settings too. Windows 7 did not support NGFF (next gen form factor) SSDs like M.2. If you install Win7, you have to at least make sure it’s the Windows7.1 flavor, and then the BIOS has to run in non-UEFI mode (I can’t remember why, but think that’s correct).

      On the 4th page, it says this and has screenshots:

      Go to Devices tab...
      For installing Windows 7: Make sure OS Optimized Defaults is set to Disabled.
      This optimizes for Win 8.
      Go to Startup tab,
      Set CSM to Enabled
      Set Boot Priority to Legacy First
      That step should automatically change the Secure Boot choice to Disabled, which is how it needs to be.
      If Security tab > Secure Boot is not disabled, set to Disabled.
